For some domain endings, there is a so-called “Redemption Grace Period”.
This comes into effect when a domain is deleted, and gives the original holder the opportunity to protect his domain from unwanted deletion. During the Redemption Grace Period, the domain can only be “saved” by the last domain holder. Only when the Redemption Grace Period has expired, the domain is fully released and can be re-registered by anyone.
You can find out whether a Redemption Grace Period exists for your domain and how long this period is in the guidelines of the responsible registry (e.g. Denic). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Please note, however, that the restoration of a domain is always associated with additional costs, which you can find out from our support.
